Flooring Contractor in Cullman, AL
Cullman is about 55 minutes south of our Huntsville base on I-65, a city founded in 1873 by German immigrant John G. Cullmann and home to the Ave Maria Grotto at St. Bernard Abbey. Older downtown homes hide original wood worth refinishing, while newer I-65 subdivisions want LVP and hardwood. We test the moisture first, then install hardwood, LVP or carpet. Call (904) 533-7260.

Cullman, AL
German-heritage downtown homes and new builds
Cullman carries its history in its housing. Founded in 1873 by the German immigrant John G. Cullmann and still proud of that heritage — the Ave Maria Grotto at St. Bernard Abbey draws visitors from across the region — the city grew an older core of homes close to its downtown and a ring of newer subdivisions out toward the interstate.
The older downtown homes are where the interesting flooring work lives. Houses of that age were commonly built over hardwood, and in many the original oak or pine is still there under carpet, vinyl or decades of darkened finish. When a floor like that can be saved, refinishing it brings back character no new product matches, and it usually costs less than replacement. We check the wear layer and board condition first, because a floor sanded several times already may be too thin for another pass.
Out along I-65, the newer subdivisions are a different job. These are younger slab homes whose builder carpet and laminate wear out within a decade or so, and owners replace them with waterproof LVP or a wood-look floor through the main level. There the first step is a moisture reading on the slab before we order.
Older homes often sit on crawlspaces, so we watch moisture and any soft framing there too. The right floor depends on which Cullman a house belongs to.

Local knowledge
From downtown to the I-65 subdivisions

We serve Cullman from the historic downtown and the neighborhoods around it out to the newer subdivisions along the I-65 interchanges. It is a long run south from our Huntsville shop, so we schedule the measure visit for a time that suits you and keep it free. Cullman sits right on I-65, so the drive is an easy straight shot even at the far end of our range.
The jobs split neatly between old and new. Downtown it is uncovering and refinishing original oak or pine, patching damaged boards, and installing new wood sympathetic to an older home where the original is gone. In the subdivisions it is replacing worn builder carpet and laminate with waterproof LVP or a wood-look floor through the main living areas. Either way we move furniture, haul off the old flooring, prep the subfloor and put the whole scope in a written quote. On a century-old downtown floor we treat the wood as something worth saving rather than ripping out by default.

Flooring for Cullman’s historic and new homes
Hardwood Refinishing
Cullman’s older downtown homes often keep original oak or pine under carpet and old finish; sanding and resealing it restores character that no new product matches.
DetailsHardwood Installation
Where a downtown floor is beyond saving, we install new wood sympathetic to the home’s age, or set engineered hardwood through a subdivision main level after a moisture check.
DetailsLuxury Vinyl Plank (LVP)
Waterproof, wood-look LVP is the go-to in Cullman’s I-65 subdivisions, replacing worn builder carpet and laminate with a durable, easy-care floor across the main level.
DetailsLaminate Flooring
A budget-friendly wood look for subdivision bedrooms and bonus rooms, set over quiet underlayment once the slab reads dry and flat, a practical pick for growing families.
DetailsSubfloor Repair
Century-old downtown homes on crawlspaces sometimes need framing or subfloor repair under the wood before we refinish or install; we handle that before the finish floor.
DetailsBuckled Hardwood Repair
Old wood that cupped from crawlspace moisture can often be repaired board by board rather than replaced, once we find and fix the source of the damp.
DetailsCarpet Installation
Fresh carpet for bedrooms in both the older homes and the newer subdivisions, with the worn carpet and pad torn out and hauled away before the new pad goes down.

Trusted by North Alabama homeowners
“I cannot express enough how wonderful my experience was! They were professional and courteous through the whole process. All of my questions were answered as needed. They worked hard so that I could get to things I needed during construction. I have a dog, and they were very kind to her. By the end of the construction I felt as though they were family and my floors were fabulous! I will call on them again and would recommend them to my friends and family too.”
“This company did an amazing job with our floors! Lucas and his team did great work. They communicated well and were nice to work with. They worked efficiently and precisely and cleaned up afterwards. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking to have floor work done.”
